Each year, eight Anaheim-based nonprofits and eight high schools sell Safe and Sane fireworks — the only fireworks allowed in Anaheim and only on July 4 — to raise money they use all year for their community programs.
A lottery is held yearly to select the nonprofits that will operate stands. Operation includes submitting a permit, staffing the stand and providing onsite security 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from June 28 through July 4.
